For Labor Day weekend, we packed our horses and carriage and headed up to the sun-bathed Sierra, to see for ourselves what the craze was all about ... 106 years ago! It is amazing to see how far and wide the discovery of the golden precious metal in the Sierra in the mid-80s influenced people, technologies, towns and economies, all the way to World War II.
